Getting to

Portarlington

All Portarlington Mussel Tours begin and end at Portarlington Pier, conveniently located beside the town centre.

By Car

Travelling by car gives you the freedom to explore the Bellarine Peninsula’s coastal towns, wineries and local producers along the way. Portarlington is approximately 90 minutes from Melbourne CBD or 25 minutes from central Geelong.

From Melbourne, follow the Princes Freeway towards Geelong before continuing along Portarlington Road. Enter Portarlington Pier into your navigation app and allow additional time during weekends and holiday periods.

By Ferry

From Melbourne
Travel with Port Phillip Ferries from Melbourne, Docklands directly to Portarlington Pier. The comfortable passenger ferry takes approximately 70 minutes and arrives alongside our tour departure point. Depending on the ferry timetable and your tour time, you may also have time to explore Portarlington before or after your experience

From the Mornington Peninsula
Searoad Ferries carries vehicles and foot passengers between Sorrento and Queenscliff. The crossing takes approximately 40 minutes, followed by a 20-minute drive to Portarlington. Foot passengers should arrange onward transport from Queenscliff.

By Plane

Avalon Airport is the closest commercial airport to the Bellarine Peninsula. Allow approximately 50 minutes to reach Portarlington by hire car or prearranged transfer.

Melbourne Airport is another option for interstate and international visitors.

From there, continue by hire car or arranged transfer and allow approximately 90 minutes, depending on traffic.

The crew was very welcoming and friendly, and they really made the tour personalised and special for us! The food was fresh off from the ocean and they are super delicious and the oyster is the best we have tried ever! There are so many options with the drinks and they also pair fabulously with the food. I would highly recommend going on this tour because it is such a special experience that my family is keen to do again next year! We started our journey out to the Mussel farm by being treated to some lovely oysters and bubbly together with a platter of locally sourced produce. Then the real fun began once at the farm with the lifting of the mussel line and the harvesting of those gigantic mussels. And we tried them raw!  Interesting experience. The lovely Connie then taught us how to clean and cook them. What a feast we had!  These mussels are absolutely delicious. This has been one of the best tours we’ve done in a long time. Congrats guys on really making this a memorable day & experience.

From start to finish, this tour was perfect. It was genuinely educational, and the food was a highlight, perfect mussels and Melbourne oysters, plenty of drinks, and cooking demonstrations that really added to the experience. We even got to try mussels raw, straight from the sea, which was amazing.

The boat itself was beautiful, with plenty of space and a great mix of outdoor and indoor seating areas to relax in.

We ate, drank, and learned so much, couldn't recommend this tour more highly. If you're after a fun, informative, and delicious day out on the water, this is it!

We learnt so much about mussels. We got to try mussels raw which were surprisingly delicious because they are so fresh and then two different cooking demonstrations.
